Order of Selection Exit Announcement

Order of Selection Exit AnnouncementThe Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI) would like to announce that beginning July 1, 2020, NCBVI will no longer be in an Order of Selection (OOS).

NCBVI entered into an OOS on March 1, 2019 due to unforeseen federal budgetary cuts and financial restraints. After much advocacy for additional funding, NCBVI received additional state funds in July 2019. NCBVI has worked diligently to balance the budget in order to stay within future annual grant means for the provision of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services.

NCBVI has made the determination to exit the OOS based on the above mentioned change in financial circumstances after estimating the number of individuals and the cost of services, the costs of administering the VR program, including personnel costs, outreach activities, and statewide analysis, and projected revenue. Therefore, it has been established that NCBVI will be able to provide all needed services to all eligible consumers moving forward.

Please assist us in spreading this information to the public, blind consumers, consumer organizations and groups, Parents of blind children, special education and Vision teachers, other agencies and stakeholders, and any others who may benefit from NCBVI services.
